    Suonenjoki is a small town famous for strawberries and the Strawberry Festival in July.



    Suonenjoki is a small town famous for strawberries and the Strawberry Festival in July. In the coat of arms there is a strawberry leaf that describes the importance of strawberry farming to the area. The ring aroud the leaf symbolizes the importance of the town as a centre of commerce and industry. The companies in Suonenjoki produce e.g. machinery, jam, and frozen berry products. Suonenjoki also has a forest research centre, a high school, and agricultural and vocational schools.

    Suonenjoki has about 7.900 inhabitants. The services are good, there are several stores inclucing an antique shop and Alko-store selling alcoholic beverages, a small hospital, swimming hall, ice hockey hall, rally and horse tracks, film theatre, and travel agency.

    It is easy to travel to Suonenjoki: there are good connections by train and by car (highway 9/E63 and roads 72 and 69)and it is not far from Kuopio airport Rissala.
